We saw our first palm trees of the trip!
We stayed in Needles, CA last night and we felt spoiled ❤️ everyone was incredibly friendly, the food was delicious and we finally got a relaxing soak in a hot tub 🙏 we even met a sweet hotel kitty who we shared food with ❤️
Needles, CA is known for high temperatures and it was a casual 99 degrees as we rolled in last night about 7:00 pm!
This morning I finally got a slight sleep in. When I woke up, I decided to go outside and do my of the day reading in the sunshine. Well I didn’t bring sunglasses, which was an absolute mistake! 🤣 I found a corner to sit that I thought Jen would approve of 🤭 I sat there with the sun shining down on my skin. I began focusing on my breath work and began seeing cool visions/reminders of the road. While I had my eyes closed, a sweet dog named Goldie pulled her owner up to me so I could share energy and pet her ❤️ it was a beautiful moment I shared with this sweet older dog (and her owner too).
Jen and I later hit the road to our final destination, Ventura, CA! The drive was absolutely beautiful again!! We have tried to stay along the old scenic route as much as we could and we have been so happy ❤️
We came across a cool little stop in Amboy, CA - Roy’s Motel Cafe. The guy working at the shop, Vince, and my timing kept lining up really funny and he kept trying to hold the door open for me. It became a game the whole time we were there! 🤣 I had to buy more stamps for our postcards and he said, I hope you send me one! Well, he will be gladly surprised that I did! 😎
We took the old road headed towards Joshua Tree on Highway 10. We rolled up on an extinct cinder cone volcano, the Amboy Crater, a 70 square km lava field in the eastern Mojave desert that erupted 10,000 years ago. Everything was still black around it, even this long after it erupted!
It was so cool driving up close and personal through the Mojave Desert! It looked like moving sand art but on a massive scale of course! It sprinkled briefly while we were there ✨we saw dust storms and tumbleweeds!
There was one area of the road that was so windy that it was blowing the car around. There were signs everywhere warning of wind gusts. And you better believe they had a bunch of windmills all lined up in that area! We saw a lot more trains today too!
The first bit of real traffic we ran into was passing by Los Angeles (no surprise there!). It also came a good fast rain. We passed by that big city and made it to Ventura, CA 🙏
Our friend Beth flew in to join us. We headed to pick her up from the airport ✨❤️✨
Now part 2 of this adventure begins! Rest and relaxation. ✨🙏✨
Thank you for following along!! 🥰✨🙏✨
