When I cleaned Zane’s bedroom out earlier this year, I found a sketch book with a couple of his drawings. Zane had previously shown me one of the drawings of cactus girl. I did not realize until yesterday that the drawing was done at Cy’s house (Zane’s best friend) while they were hanging out. Zane wanted to get cactus girl tattooed but hadn’t decided exactly what to do. There are 2 different drawings of her.
In his honor and memory, I have wanted to get his artwork tattooed on me but I wasn’t sure where I wanted to put her or any other details…I knew when I had the answers, it would be time to get the tattoo.
I have found myself thinking about it a lot lately. As it seems to work for me, that’s how I know it’s time. I knew that I wanted to have her on my left arm, my ancestor’s side. I envisioned her wearing a pink dress with a yellow scarf and flower. This week I said to Cy that I was ready. He got everything lined up with his artist, Rodney, at Timeless Ritual in Bristol. It seemed only proper that he make the arrangements. I feel like that is what Zane would have done. Cy agreed.
I woke up early yesterday, excited for the day and what was to come. But before I left the house, this wave of nervousness hit me and my hands were visibly shaking. I took some deep breaths to work through the energy. I put on Zane’s playlist and started to jam. I found myself feeling the tension start to leave me and I blasted the music all the way to pick up Cy.
When I got to Cy’s, I told him I was working through some nerves. He calmed me by saying that he was also experiencing the same kind of jitters. He’s got waaaayyyy more tattoos than me so that felt reassuring haha We decided to take a picture to capture the moment of our journey. Spirit mist appeared in the picture and we said it had to be Zane making his appearance.
We grabbed breakfast from Pal’s and parked near some trees to eat and jam music. We were greeted by 2 cardinals, a male and a female ❤️
Perfect breakfast spot! ❤️
We made it to the tattoo shop and filled out all the necessary paperwork. Rodney got our designs ready. I asked who was going first. To keep it fair, we rock, paper, scissored it haha He won but still let me go first ☺️ He said the winner got to choose!
Cy said I only made a couple funny faces during my tattoo 😂 Rodney did a great job and I made it through without tapping out haha he was definitely not as heavy handed as my last tattoo artist in OKC!!
I love it! Zane would be so proud ❤️
I told Cy it was his turn for the torture seat haha
Cy had already gotten his cactus girl tattooed earlier in the year. He chose to honor another one of his friends who had passed. It was a day of honoring loved ones. It was so cool getting to go hang with Cy and create this cool memory of time. We felt like Zane was with us, too ❤️ Also thought it was cool this is my 4th tattoo and Zane was a life path 4.

Really beautiful. Thanks for sharing, I love reading about all the connections and synchronicities.
